Dorothy King died peacefully surrounded by her family on August 19, 2015, at St. Mary's
Medical Center due to complications brought on by a broken hip.
Dorothy was born on June 27, 1930, to John and Ada Haines in Oak Park, Illinois. She
graduated from Oak Park Township High School in 1948 and Illinois Wesleyan College in 1952. She
married Frank King in 1960 and raised three children - Ralph, Sheila, and Phillip. She worked at Wells
Fargo Bank as a teller and later in the safe deposit department. She enjoyed traveling - visiting
Hawaii, Jamaica, and Branson, Missouri to name a few.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank, sister, Eleanor, and niece Sheryl.
She is survived by her children - Ralph (Marilyn) King, Sheila (Greg) Joseph, and Phil (Sara) King.
Also grandchildren - Rachel Joseph, Andrea (Anthony) Chiesi, Christine (James) Van Poolen, and
Miranda King and also nephews.
In lieu of flowers/gifts, donations to the Lighthouse for the Blind in Duluth are appreciated.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, from 4-7:00 pm at True Hope Fellowship, 1
Sunrise Drive, Virginia, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 25, at 11:00 am,
with visitation at 10:00 am (also at True Hope Fellowship). A light lunch will be served afterwards.
Interment will be at Sunrise Memorial Funeral Home in Duluth, Minnesota, following the meal.
