Obituary

Dorothy Lou (Cooper) Cook, 81, of Duluth, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Viewcrest Health Center while recovering from a fall and hip surgery.

Dorothy, known to her family and friends as Dot or Dottie, was born June 25, 1940 in Wyoming, DE to Nolan and Catherine Cooper. She attended schools in the Caesar Rodney School District. On March 2, 1957 she married John Waldo Cook in Denton, Maryland. They were married for sixty-one years until his passing in 2018.

Dorothy worked for many years at the McCory's Five and Dime Store in Rodney Village. She and John were very involved in the Willow Grove Church of God, holding several leadership positions. Her fried chicken and mashed potatoes were her specialty! She loved her Lord Jesus and her family! She and John moved to Minnesota in their later years to be near their son and his family.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, John; grandson, Eli; sisters, Blanche, Margaret and Lorraine; and brothers, Floyd and William.

Dorothy is survived by her son, John Wayne (Bonnie) Cook of Proctor, MN; grandchildren, John of Roseville, MN, Andrew (Rosa) of Esko, MN, Nathan (Janine) of Cloquet, MN, Caleb (Pearl) of Duluth, MN, Moriah of Proctor, MN, Isaiah of Duluth, MN, and Merabbeth of Proctor, MN; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ethyl Akmentins of Magnolia, DE, Harriett Paglusch of Wyoming, DE, and Sandra (Avery) Tucker of Seaford, DE; brother, Glen (Jamie) Melvin of Hartly, DE; and many nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in Oneota Cemetery in Duluth, Minnesota.
