Donald Albin
Larson
August 21, 1938 – September 6, 2024
Donald Albin Larson, 86, of Duluth, MN passed peacefully with his wife, Linda (Starkes), by his side on September 6, 2024. Donald was born August 21,1938, the oldest of four children to Albin and Ida (Blom) Larson.
While attending Alborn High School, he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. He also was quite a good actor and enjoyed being in several high school plays.
Don was a very intelligent man who could do most anything he wanted to do. After graduating, he worked at a variety of jobs ranging from driving a bulldozer to selling insurance. His most memorable job was going to New York at 18 to help build the St. Lawrence Seaway.
He was a very social person who liked to visit with family, friends, and neighbors. He enjoyed playing cribbage in a league with friends. During his final days of life, he said "I'll tell you one thing, I picked the right girl" referring to Linda, his wife of 29 years.
Don is survived by his dear wife; sons, Steve (Kari) Larson, and Greg (Teri) Larson; granddaughter, Tory (Calvin) Pagel; 5 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Ron (Tammy) Baker, Laurie Gustafson, Robert Baker, and Jason (Lucresia) Fose; 6 step-grandchildren; 8 great-step-grandchildren; sister, Connie (Bob Jackson) MacGillvary; brothers, Robert (Kathie) and Dale (Janet); 6 nieces and nephews; 7 great nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Marylou (Tim Lambert) Marshall and Nancy (Sid) Bruhjell; brother in-law, Larry (Brenda) Starkes; and 6 step nieces and nephews.
His family would like to extend a special thank you to St Luke's Hospice, especially Donna and Deb.
A gathering of family and friends to be held 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, September 16th at the American Legion Post 71, 5814 Grand Ave, Duluth 55807.
