Obituary

Dennis Lloyd Claflin Sr, 66, of Superior, Wisconsin, passed away on July 2, 2026.

Dennis was born on November 17, 1959, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Kenneth and MaryAnne Claflin. He graduated from Duluth East High School with the Class of 1978 before earning an associate degree from New England Technical Institute. Answering the call to serve, Dennis proudly dedicated 30 years to the United States Navy, retiring with the distinguished rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. His unwavering commitment to duty, integrity, and love of country reflected the values he carried throughout his life.

Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Rylynn; and his parents, Kenneth and MaryAnne.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Terri; children, Melissa (Elridge), Diana (Alberto), and Dennis Jr. (Mindy); grandchildren, Andre (Tracy), Alyanna (Garrett), Julia, Eron (Angelique), Noel (Kaia), and Avalyn; great-grandchildren, Micaiah, Liam, Aleah, Gavin, Owen, and Luna; and siblings, Ken (Pam), Georgia, Joe (Linda), and Annette (Tim); along with many extended family members, friends, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing him.

Dennis was a faithful servant of God, a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather, a caring brother and son, and a loyal friend. His steadfast faith guided his life, and his greatest joy came from caring for his family and sharing God's love with those around him. He was a true patriot who deeply loved the United States and considered it one of the greatest honors of his life to wear the uniform of the United States Navy.

Though his family grieves his passing, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and find comfort in knowing Dennis has been welcomed home by his Savior. His legacy of faith, love, service, and sacrifice will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 9th at Duluth Bible Church, 201 W St Andrews Street, Duluth, with the funeral service at 1:00 PM and reception to follow. Burial will take place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery - Duluth, 4777 U.S. Highway 53, Saginaw.
