Debra Kristine Bickel, 68, of Duluth, MN passed away peacefully on November 12th, 2021.

Deb was born in Rochester, MN to Robert and Beverly Jensen. After graduating from Mayo High School, she attended the University of Minnesota, majoring in Biology. Deb taught in the Minneapolis school system for a number of years before moving to Duluth.

Deb's love for her family was first and foremost in her life and she took great pride in caring for them. Deb created a beautiful home, was a fabulous cook, and cultivated gorgeous gardens. Her creativity was apparent in everything she did.

Deb enjoyed a good hike, the arts, music, gardening, and a good book.

Deb faced her diagnosis of ALS with dignity and grace. She never allowed it to hinder her enjoyment of life.

Deb was preceded in death by her son, Jacob Bickel; and her parents.

Deb is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Ken; son, Daniel Bickel of San Francisco; grandchildren, Wesley and Evangeline Bickel and their mother Justine Bickel of Duluth; sister, Tammy (Lynn) Wilde; nieces, Lindsey Kendrick and Amber Bickel; nephew, Lucas Wilde; mother-in-law, Eva Bickel; brothers-in-law, Larry (Dawn) Bickel and James (Terry) Bickel; and sister-in-law, Cindy Bickel.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Deb's doctors and nurses at Essentia Healthcare and to friends and neighbors for their support.

A gathering to celebrate Deb's life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to the ALS Association.
