David Andrew Johnson, 78, of Duluth, MN, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018. David was born in Duluth, MN to Harry and Joyce Johnson on September 24, 1939. He went to high school at Denfeld High School and graduated in 1957. He worked as a Building Superintendent for St. Louis County for 31 years. He enjoyed R/C airplanes, collector cars, and playing with his grandkids and great grandkids. He received many awards for his '64 Plymouth and '66 Dodge and was involved in the Duluth Superior R/C club. David was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Joyce Johnson. David is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Wendy (Tim) Diedrich, Scott (Nancy & Dodger) Johnson , and Kelly Johnson; grandchildren, Wayne Johnson, Amanda (John) Evenson, Randall Johnson, Nicole Sanders-Tiedemann; great-grandchildren, Tammy and Karinna Johnson; brothers, Michael (Roni) and Randy; and his nieces and nephews. A gathering of friends will be held on Saturday, January 20th from 3:30 - 5:30pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 2415 Ensign St., Duluth, MN. Please park in lower lot and use back door to enter the Church Basement. No funeral or cemetery services will be held. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Sunrise Funeral Home and Chris Jensen Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude's in David's name.
