Obituary

Our dear sweet mother, grandmother and mother-in-law, Darlene (Hedstrom) Lukovsky, 79, was taken from us tragically on September 15, 2017.  While driving home during foggy conditions, her vehicle went off of the road near her home on Island Lake into the water and she drowned. Darlene was born on September 17, 1937, in Superior, WI to Louise (Rue) Hedstrom & Evert Hedstrom. She graduated from Central High School in Superior, WI in 1954.  She follows her beloved husband, Dr. Peter Lukovsky (June 14, 1930-April 13, 2012) into the arms of our Lord. She is survived by her devoted children, Dr.David (Nikki) Lukovsky, Dr. Steven (Tory) Lukovsky, and Dr. Lori Lukovsky (Rob Russell); her 6 beautiful grandchildren, Sophia Lukovsky (4), Nicholas Lukovsky (2) {David and Nikki}, Max Lukovsky (10), Jaya Lukovsky (7) {Steven and Tory}, Isla Norris (9) and Amelia Russell (2) {Lori and Rob}; many nieces and nephews; including a niece close to her heart, Patty Lukovsky; and dear friends. Darlene was a kind and thoughtful soul always willing to help others. She was a caregiver throughout her life with her mother, then her aunts, and later in life, her husband; following his life altering stroke. Her whole world was her family and she never missed a chance to spend time with them. She was incredibly proud of her 3 children and always made certain that we knew it. Her grandchildren were all near and dear to her heart, filling her up and bringing her joy. A special part of her was her ability to pull her children's friends into the circle of our family and make them feel at home and welcome. It brought her great joy to make certain everyone had whatever they needed; most importantly a full stomach! She was quick with a smile and had an endearing sense of humor that was often unintentional. She enjoyed making sure that Jack (her beloved longtime grand fur baby) was fed and happy. She was content and loved her home with the beautiful view of the lake that it offered. Darlene was a true believer in God, heaven and angels. She believed none of us know when our time will come, but we all have a time and it is our destiny. We are struggling with what became her destiny, but we know that she is together again with her love, Peter. They have their dancing shoes back on and Dr. Pete is spinning her around the dance floor again. We feel surrounded by the love she created in our family and all around us. Her memory will not only live on, but is woven into the very fibers of who we have all become because of her influence. Our angel, Darlene Jean; her wings were ready, but our hearts were not. Until we meet again someday... GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 4pm on Friday, September 22, 2017, at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown, with Memorial Service to follow at 5pm.
