It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Ann Rasmussen, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, and cherished friend.
Carol passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, at the age of 82, surrounded by the love of her daughters. Her battle with Alzheimer's disease was met with courage and resilience, and she left this world with the same strength that characterized her life.
Carol was born on June 29, 1943, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Harry and Mildred Hanson. In her younger years, Carol's zest for life was evident in her love for bowling and volleyball leagues. She and Raymond shared a passion for races and snowmobiling. Carol's spicy attitude was a hallmark of her personality, infusing her interactions with humor and authenticity.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 62 years, Raymond Rasmussen; and dear sister, Susan Gaber.
Carol is survived by her loving children, Gregory (Angela) Rasmussen of Anoka, MN, Debra (Bruce) Ukura of Two Harbors, MN, and April (Robert) Rasmussen of Two Harbors, MN. Her legacy continues through her treasured grandchildren, Nicholas, Bettina, Matthew, Jessica, John (Lisa) Schwitters, Raymond (Alex) Schwitters, and Emily (Alex) McDowell. She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, whose lives she touched with her warmth and kindness. Her family also includes her brother, Stephen (Carole) Hansen; sisters, Sally (Rick) Biernet of Albany, OR, and Kathy Stone of California; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Elaine Ellefsen, Betty and Jim Merling, and Janet Rasmussen, along with several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Carol's life was enriched by the companionship of her special friend, Tammy Olson, who brought joy and comfort to her days.
A celebration of Carol's life will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 28th at the Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with Funeral Service at 11:30 AM. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery with Raymond.
Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Carefree Living and Moments Hospice for the attentive and compassionate care provided to Carol during her final days.
