Betty Peterson was born on April 9, 1928 in Grand Marais MN, and moved to Munger Township, Solway Township, St Petersburg Florida, and then to settle in the Hermantown area. She passed away peacefully on November 17, 2023, with her children by her side.

Betty was not only a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, but a talented artist and musician. In her spare time, she loved to bake, crochet, and garden. She enjoyed oil painting and was a member of the West End Oil Painting Club and the Hermantown School Evening Oil Painting class. Betty was a former leader of the Grandma's and Grampa's Band for 27 years, later to become the Lincoln Park Ramblers. She was a former member of The Solway Seniors and was an accomplished fiddler, and for ten years was a member of the Fiddler's Delite. Also, she was a judge for 28 years at the Hermantown Voting Polls.

Betty was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian (Cardinal) Forrette; father, Walter Cardinal; first husband, Hugh Knuckey; second husband, Harold Peterson; special companion, Robert Stoinski; four brothers, Robert, Mike, Erling and Lloyd; and three of her sisters, Mary Hagberg, Helen Oller and Lillian Miller.

Betty is survived by her five children, Lillian Hall, David (Rhonda) Knuckey, Alice (Keith) Larson, Robert (Sandee) Knuckey and Lynn (Dan) Svercl; ten grandchildren, Sarah, Tonya, Kevin, Laurie, Brian, Kelly, Tara, Stephanie, John, and Matt; ten great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy (Tom) Luczak and Geri Gamache.

A Celebration of Betty's Life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2nd at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy. Visitation to be held at 10:00 AM with Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 AM. Entombment at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery.
