Obituary

Betty Mae Johnson, 87, of Duluth, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018 in Edgewood Vista. Betty was born to Marion and Bertha (Eggert) Dezell on March 23, 1931 in Staples, MN. She graduated from Staples High School in 1949. After graduating she moved to Duluth with her mother and sisters. She worked as a bookkeeper for many businesses, including Bridgeman-Russell, John Morrell Meats, and Duluth Aviation. She met Julius Johnson in 1952 while working at Bridgeman-Russell. They married 5 years later on August 10, 1957 and went on to raise a family in Duluth. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Julius; and siblings, Bernice, Orville, Floyd, Phyllis, and Janice. Betty is survived by her children, Randi (Reiner) Nelson, Julie (William) Daniels, and Lani (Dan) Burud; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Haburt, Carl (Sarah Brinda) Nelson, Andrew (Katie) Cutting, Heather (Jevon) Smith, Amber Cutting, Lyndsay Burud, and Meggan (Mason Kraskey) Burud; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Anja, Mason, Asa, and Hadley; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Edgewood Vista for their exceptional care of Grandma Betty. VISITATION: 11 am on Friday, Jan. 4th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with funeral service to follow at 12 pm. Entombment at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery.
