Betty Carole Laurin, 93, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016 with her family by her side. She was born to Gordon & Anna (Arseneau) Clayton in Duluth, Minn. Betty was a homemaker and a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She also worked at JC Penny for 23 years. She loved being on the lake, especially Lake Superior. Betty's grandkids had a special place in her heart. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Laurin Sr.; brothers, Robert, Claude, Terry, and Richard Clayton; and sister, Virgina Madsen. Betty is survived by her children, Roberta (Gary) Simonson, Keith (Kathy) Laurin, Vern (Ginger) Laurin Jr., Claudia Laurin, and John (Sherri) Laurin; grandchildren, Renee (Jeff), Dawn (Kyle), Terry (Erica), David, Todd (Natalie), Jessica (Ryan), and Crystal (Matt); 7 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. VISITATION: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28th, at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Highway, Hermantown, with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m.
