Bernice (Lindquist) (Cooksey) Adamski, 81, of Duluth, passed away peacefully with her family by her side November 4, 2014. She was born in Meadowlands, MN to August and Olga (Erickson) Lindquist on Sept. 25, 1933 and graduated from Toivola-Meadowlands High in 1951. Bernice married Staff Sergeant James Cooksey on Dec. 13, 1955. He passed away due to a motorcycle accident while stationed at Okinawa, Japan on Dec. 31, 1958. She married James Adamski on August 8, 1964. He passed away on Jan. 14, 2011, they were married for 46 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers Morris and Gordon Lindquist; sisters Margaret Fechner, Doris Huffman, June Colombe and Betty Rauvola. Bernice devoted her time to her husband, children and family. She was an ardent reader and enjoyed mastering her fondness of crossword puzzles. She would revel in her gardens come springtime and enjoyed the wonder of nature throughout the year. A competitive card game with her sisters was always a memorable past time. And no matter the outcome, she was a steadfast Viking fan. Bernice is survived by her daughter Susan (Rory) Trettel of Duluth; sons Vern "Bud" (Marlene) Cooksey of Duluth, Stephen (Ann-Marie) of Ashland, Allen of Los Angeles, CA, and Jamie of Duluth; sisters Lois Holmes of Warba and Inez Buxton of Floodwood; grandchildren Christina, Amanda (Rick), Rebecca (Derek), Mickayla, Alyvia, Alex, Austin and Jayden; great-grandchildren Charlie, Lily, Joey, Katelynn, Jameson and Leland. The family would like to thank the staff at Essentia Hospice Care, and Solvay Hospice House. Visitation 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday Nov. 7 at Sunrise Funeral Home where the Funeral service will be held Saturday Nov. 8 visitation at 11:00 am with service at 12:00 pm.
