11:00 am - 12:00 pm (Central time)
Barbara Pauline Wedward, 91, went to her heavenly home on April 28, 2026.
She was born on February 15, 1935 in Milwaukee, WI to Robert and Kathryn (Garcia) Steger. She graduated from Holy Angels Academy High School in 1954. When she was only 15, she met Tom Wedward at Sherman Park in Milwaukee, and they married on July 30, 1955. They lived in Milwaukee, Chicago, Mandan, Fargo, before finally settling in Duluth for 52 years.
As a young girl, Barb enjoyed playing the accordion. As an adult, she loved being with her family, and enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, camping, gardening, and traveling – especially to Spain, Ireland, Rome, and Cuba.
Barb loved animals and always had a pet, be it a poodle, dalmatian, or a Siamese cat. She made financial contributions to animals causes and had been a member of the Duluth Zoological Society and the Ely Wolf Center.
Barb worked as an office secretary for Harnischfeger in Milwaukee and then Traveler’s Insurance in Duluth. She was a past member of the Ladies of the Elks and a member of the Rebecca Circle at Mt Olive Lutheran Church.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; and niece, Dawn Sienko.
Barb is survived by her children, Sherri (John) Schuchmann and Michael (Dana) Wedward; grandchildren, Nicole Pinnow, Bryan Pinnow, Dylan Wedward, Cole Wedward, and Lauren Wedward; sister, Marilyn Sienko; nephew, Brian Sienko; and brother-in-law, Christopher Behling.
Committal service to be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 9th in the Sunrise Funeral Home Chapel, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, and she will be entombed with her late husband, Tom. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor to the Mt Olive Memorial Fund, The National Psoriasis Foundation, or Lake Superior Zoo would be appreciated.
