Arvid R. Fleischer, 73, of Munger, MN, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Essentia Health Medical Center with his wife and kids by his side. Arvid was born in Brainerd, MN on September 5, 1944 to Ralph and Arvilla Fleischer. He graduated from Proctor High School in 1963. Immediately after high school, Arvid joined the Marines and proudly served for four years. Leaving the Service, a Vietnam Veteran, he began working in the Duluth grain elevators. He then worked at Diamond Tool, Pinkerton Security, and retired in 2010 from Fond du Luth Casino as a security guard. Arvid was a life member of the VFW 8960 and served as President of that VFW in 1987. He enjoyed going to the Proctor Speedway, where he met his beautiful wife, Brenda. They were married November 24, 1973. He loved spending time with his family, travelling to Laughlin, NV, watching Vikings football, going to casinos, and enjoying the outdoors. Arvid was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Cora Fleischer and Joyce Shovein; father-in-law, Eugene St. Marie; and brother-in-law, Bruce Shovein. Arvid is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Brenda (St. Marie); son, Brian of Andover, MN; daughter, Christina (Michelle Mucha) of Champlin, MN; gradchildren, Grayson and Emmett; mother-in-law, Adeline St. Marie; several other close relatives; and his faithful cat, Buggs. The family would like to thank the staff at Essentia Health-St. Mary's and the Proctor Clinic for the great care Arvid received. A special thank you to Gene and Coleen St. Marie for always being there for us. VISITATION: 10am on Monday, August 27th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with a memorial service to follow at 11am.
