Arthur "Art" Melvin Thomspon, 92, of Esko, Minnesota, entered into heaven on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Barnes Care Assisted Living in Esko surrounded by his family.
Arthur was born in Arland, WI to Albert and Ellen Thompson (Aro) on May 15, 1932. He served during the Korean War, stationed in Alaska, receiving the National Defense Service Medal. Upon his return, he worked at Conwed and USG until his retirement in 1997. He met his love, Marcella Janczak at a dance, married her on September 8, 1956, and spent the next 62 years being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Art enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, watching the Minnesota Vikings, being with family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a man who could build or fix just about anything, always willing to lend a helping hand. If you were fortunate to know Art well, he gave you a nickname.
Art was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marcella" Marce"; parents, Albert and Ellen Thompson "Pa & Ma"; brothers, LeRoy Thompson "Snortin' Norton" (Genevieve), Donald Thompson "Peanuts", and Rodney "Doc" Thompson.
