Our loving and admired father,  grandpa, great grandpa, brother and friend, Anthony "Tony" John  Bullyan, 74, of Twig, MN, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013.  After three and a half years without the love of his life Kathy, he died of a broken heart.  Tony was born and raised in West Duluth by Marko and Mary Bullyan along with his four brothers and two sisters.  He attended St. James Elementary and in 1957 he graduated from Denfeld High School.  In 1958 he became a member of the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1960.  Tony's first civilian job was at Paradise Gas and Auto Repair.  He then purchased his own service station he named Bullyan's Mileage.  In the spring of 1965 he began his career with Bullyan Homes.  In 1958 Tony met the love of his life, Kathy Ruidl and they were married June 13, 1959.  Their first home was a mobile home on the Rose Road.  In the fall of 1966 they bought their second home in Hermantown and it was there that they raised their four children.  Finally in 1993 they purchased their dream home on the lake in Twig and truly enjoyed living in the woods.   Although he worked long hours, he enjoyed the time spent with Kathy and the kids at home, on the annual vacations and at the cabin on Little Jessie Lake.   The Sunday drives after church were often interrupted by dad stopping to explore a park or shoreline, but they always included ice cream on the way home.  All four kids felt blessed to have such a smart father who they felt they could go to anytime for advice.  He seemed to provide the logic to every situation and then the answer would be there clear as day.  Tony was a social person and had many friends from all parts of his life.  Both Tony and Kathy enjoyed having friends and family over for a BBQ or to meet them out for dinner.  They were able to travel both domestic and abroad throughout their marriage.  As members of the Duluth Harbor Light Chapter Good Sam RV Club Tony was President for a couple of years.  Participation, and the friendships made in the club added significant enjoyment to his life.  The Thursday morning breakfast group was a special bunch of people he enjoyed being with.  Tony was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church since its inception in 1959.  Tony liked to putz; in his garage, in the yard or on anything he didn't think was working properly.  He took significant pride in his work at Bullyan's.  He retired in 2001 after 36 years.  Tony was proud to be able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with Kathy on June 13, 2009 surrounded by 200 of their closest friends and family.   He will be forever loved and missed.  Preceded in death by his wife Kathy, parents Marko and Mary Bullyan and brother William. Survived by children, Scott (Paula), Susan (Scot) Hylton, Shanna (Kevin) McLaughlin, Sandra (Brian) Bergerson;  grandchildren, Melissa(Kevin) Lesynski, Andrew, Daniel, Amie(Bradley) Butler, Jesse, Jonah, Ashley(Michael) Leen, Kyle, Nicole, Rachel, Darian, Kendall and Keaton; great grandchildren, Mason, Chase, Branden and Aubrey; brothers Mark(Bernice), Robert(Dee), Joseph(Nancy); sisters Mary(Harlan) Behn , Helen Bullyan,  many nieces and nephews and his constant companion, sidekick and angel, "Rudy."  The family would like to truly thank the medical staff and caregivers at St. Mary's Hospital, Lakeshore Fountains Program and Pathways for their continued concern and support in Tony's care.  A special thank you to Father Dale Nau, Rob Nelson of Nelson Funeral Care and Sunrise Funeral Home for assisting the family in arrangements for the celebration of Tony's life.  VISITATION: 5:00 to 8:00pm Friday June 28, 2013, with a Rosary at 7:30pm in Sunrise Funeral Home, Hermantown.  Visitation to resume at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, 5779 Seville Road, Pike Lake, Minn., at 11:00am Saturday, June 29, 2013 with Mass Of Christian Burial to follow at 12:00 noon.  Interment will be at Sunrise Memorial Park, followed by a luncheon in the Sunrise Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kathryn A.
