Annie V. Kennedy, 86, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026. Born on April 15, 1939, in Columbus, Mississippi, Annie lived a life defined by quiet strength, gracious hospitality, and unwavering faith.
“Annie’s life was a quiet devotion to family, church, and service.”
After moving to Duluth in 1965, she built a life rooted in service and education. She loved her family and church deeply. In 1980, she proudly earned her Bachelor’s degree from The College of St. Scholastica — a reflection of her determination, perseverance, and belief in lifelong learning.
Annie was a devoted member of St. Mark AME Church, where she faithfully served in leadership roles, including missionary president. A lifelong prayer warrior, she uplifted others through intercession, compassion, and steadfast trust in God. She mentored youth, led mission efforts, and founded Robbie’s Closet, a ministry supporting people in need. Her mission was to “clothe the naked and feed the poor.”
In recognition of her dedicated service and community impact, she was honored in 2018 as a Gala Honoree by Clayton Jackson McGhie Memorial, Inc. Her life reflected dignity, humility, and a deep commitment to bettering the lives of others.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Odie V. Tucker Sr. and Vesta L. Tucker (Clayborn); her brothers, Odie V. Jr. and Sylvester; and her son, Anthony (Allen).
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Janet and William (Butch); her siblings, Earnest, Otis, Hester (May), and Sheilah (Sutton); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Her gentle spirit, faithful prayers, and matriarchal strength leave a lasting legacy that will continue for generations. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Sunrise Funeral Home in Duluth, Minnesota, with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
An additional Celebration of Life will be held on March 15, 2026, at St Mark AME Church in Duluth, Minnesota. Service begins at 11:00 am. Following the service, there will be dessert and tea. Wear your best hat and pay tribute to Annie’s life.
