Alvin Schillinger age 96 passed away at St. Marys Hospital on February 22, 2015 in Duluth, Mn. Alvin was born on September 8th 1918 in Proctor, MN. His parents were George and Elsie Schillinger of Proctor. Alvin worked for the DM&IR Railroad till retirement. He married Shirley Rimstad from Cloquet, MN. She preceded him in death in 1982. He was always busy, hard working,generous and kind, very loving to all his family and friends. Building homes was a favorite pass time, knowing he'd accomplised a lot gave him his most pleasure. He was responsible for a new camp building at Island Lake Church Camp site named "Camp Shirley" after his wife. The camp is still in place for people and children to go to find nature, water activity peace and relaxation. Alvin was a member of the Duluth Seventh Day Adventist Church. He loved to Talk about Jesus and events to come. Even with Alzheimer's diease he could still sing a good loud church song and give a very gracious prayer. His biggest hope was to someday meet his family and friends in the earth made new with no more sorrow or sickness. He will be greatly missed by his survivors, daughter, Joan (Alan) Wilson, Son, Gerald (Joyce) Schillinger of Duluth, MN, Grand children Beth Saari of Duluth, MN, Lisa Marciniak of Duluth and Amy Abrahamson of Idaho, Carrie Ashton and Sheri Cox of Mpls. Great grand children, Drake, Bryce,Chandler and Alexis Ashton, also Nicole Cox, Amy Aldrich, Chris and Kate Saari of Duluth Chad Marciniak and Jacob Abrahamson of Duluth. Great, Great Grandchildren Carter and Zachery Aldrich also of Rapid City South Dakota A time of Gathering and fellowship will be held at a later date.
