Alexandra VanBergen Crawford, 71, of Duluth, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Lifestone Health Care in Proctor, Minnesota. She was born in Duluth on February 21, 1947 to James Park and Mardy (Miller) Crawford. Alex graduated from Duluth East High School in 1965, and later attended the University of Minnesota Duluth for three years. Alex was a gifted artist and musician, and a world traveler. Throughout her lifetime, she lived in Vail, Colorado, Maui, Hawaii, Zürich, Switzerland and London, England. She studied art, French, theatre and music, and applied her artistic abilities as a clothing designer and fine artist. She enjoyed playing the piano, painting portraits and landscapes, and ballet dancing. She lived in the Twin Cities for several years and worked and studied at the Zenon Dance Co. She also enjoyed secretarial work at the Miller-Dwan Foundation and Crawford Funeral Home. In her later years, Alex devoted her time to caring for her parents at Barrs Lake. Alex was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mardy Crawford; and brother, Jim. Alex is survived by her sisters, Margaret Fawcett, Ann (Barry) Brooks and Joan Crawford; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Chiamaka and Emmanuel Enemuoh and the staff at Lifestone: Ashley, Donna, Emma, Sharon and David for their love, devotion, and excellent care for Alex. VISITATION: 1 pm on Tuesday, October 30th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with funeral service to follow at 2 pm. Interment at Forest Hill Cemetery.
