Alan "Bill" William Peterson, 84, of Duluth, Minnesota, went to his eternal home to be with his savior and friend Jesus on March 1, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth. Bill was born in Duluth to Joyan and Esther on July 6, 1933. He graduated from Denfeld High School in 1951. Bill and his brothers owned and operated Peterson Bros. Trucking, often recognized in the northland by the cartoon characters on the grill. He drove truck for 67 years, until his declining health forced him in to retirement at the age of 83. In the winter the business turned to plowing snow. He enjoyed heading into a storm long before most had awakened. He built and co-owned several northland restaurants, including Bridgeman's, Mr. Steak, and Wheel 'N Inn. Bill grew up attending Temple Baptist Church. In 1966 he became a charter member of Mount of Olives Baptist Church, where he served for the remainder of his life in many capacities such as board member, trustee, missions committee member and Sunday School teacher. He held a steadfast faith in Christ throughout his life, and shared this faith freely. His sincere prayers were a blessing to many. Bill was known for his warm hugs, his big smile, his gentle demeanor and his kind and generous heart. Bill was devoted to his family as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was very handy and used his skills to bless others with gifts, including homemade yule-logs and maple syrup collected from his trees. Bill enjoyed the outdoors. One of his favorite places was the "The Mill" (a family cabin). Bill was a gifted photographer, often seen with a camera strap around his neck. He was a collector of antique cars and a long-term member of the AACA. Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Richard ("Dick"). Bill is survived by his wife, Colleen; siblings, Gerald, Connie, Kathy, Mark; children, Chad (Charity), Jason (Tricia), Tanya (Mark), Jesse; and grandchildren, Brianne, Gabrielle, Alexis, Sarah, Elianna, Samuel, Jared, Katherine, Abraham, William, Hosanna, Caroline, and Louisa. VISITATION: Monday March 5th at 1pm at Mount of Olives Baptist Church, 1500 Swan Lake Rd, Duluth, MN 55811, with funeral service to follow at 2pm.
