Ada Helene Mayer, age 91, passed away on October 30, 2013 at Grace Point Crossing in Cambridge, MN. Ada was born on October 24, 1922 in Minneapolis to Harry and Helen Bakken. The family moved to Duluth when Ada was a child and she remained there until retirement. She married Erling M. Mayer in 1941 and they raised 5 children. They were longtime members of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Ada and Erling spent many wonderful weekends and vacations traveling in their many campers. Ada loved needlecrafts and quilting and always had her latest project close at hand. Ada worked at St. Mary's pharmacy for 8 years. Then, in 1964, Ada received her LPN Certificate and began her working career with Dr. Elizabeth Bagley. She retired with Dr. Bagley in 1981. After retirement, Ada and Erling moved to Peel, AR and built their dream house high in the Ozark Mountains. Following Erling's death in 1994, Ada spent several years in Arizona before returning to Duluth in 2006. She was preceded in death by husband Erling, sister Alyce, son David, and daughter Susan. She is survived by daughters, Sandra (Ron) Gould, Connie (Maurizio) Facciotto, Patricia (Rex) Privette, daughter-in-law Barb, 9 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at 1 pm in Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2012 E Superior Street, Duluth, MN. Arrangements by Sunrise Funeral Home.
