Gary Kenneth Kolquist, 65, of Duluth, passed away at home, in the presence of his wife and children, on October 18, 2019, after a year-long battle with Interstitial lung Disease.
Gary was born and raised in Duluth to Patricia and Kenneth Kolquist on August 13, 1954. He graduated from Denfeld High School in 1972. After high school, he worked for the Postal Service until his retirement with almost 45 years of service. He truly loved his job, his work family, and the families on his route. Gary's greatest pleasure was his family. He was proud to help coach his children sports teams and to help his grandchildren with their sports. Of course, a favorite pastime was following the Minnesota Twins, through the good and the bad.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
Gary is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara Kolquist; daughter, Katti (Andy) Kinnear; son, Kenny (Rikki) Kolquist; beautiful grandchildren, Parker, Preston, and Carson Dallek, Berkley and Boston Kolquist, and Judah Kinnear; and Brian Dallek.
Words cannot describe the depth of gratitude his family has for Dr. Kempke, Dr. Swanson, and Dr. Pearlman for the care and attention they gave Gary through his illness. The last few years have been very difficult for Gary and his family. Special thank you to Theresa from hospice for the level of care and compassion she gave Gary, it will never been forgotten.
