Alvina "Ninie" "Vi" Ruth Olson, 96, of Duluth, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Viewcrest Health Center surrounded by her family.
Alvina was born in Foxhome, Minnesota to Martin and Leota (Denison) Anderson on December 5, 1921. Her family moved to Duluth, where she met her husband at the Merritt skating rink when she was only 16. They married on December 5, 1940, and were married for 69 years and lived in Fredenberg for 23 years.
Alvina's family was most important to her. One of her favorite places to be was Lake Superior and the Aerial Lift Bridge.
Alvina was preceded in death by her husband, Basil on 2009; sisters, Vella Tahja, Betty James, and Dorothy Bender; brother, Vernon Anderson; and son-in-law, Stan Bloomberg.
Alvina is survived by son, John (Paula) Olson; daughters, Sandra Bloomberg and Kathy (Dave) Toelcke; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ilene Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Edgewood Vista in Hermantown for the many memorable years Mom had there.
We love you and will miss you dearly. You are with our Dad and he can now stop waiting for you.
VISITATION: 10am on June 22nd at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with funeral service to follow at 11:30am.
