Clarence "Clink" Carlson Obituary

Clarence “Clink” Clinton Carlson, 93, of Superior, passed away peacefully in his home on February 19, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born on September 20, 1930, to his mother and father, Marion and Nicholi Carlson, and at a young age Clarence and Edwin went to live with the Edna Larson family who raised the boys.

Clarence met the love of his life, Dorothy Jane Anderson, and were married in Duluth on May 19, 1956, and were together 66 years until Dorothy passed away on February 13, 2023.

Clarence honorably served in the Army in the Korean war era, he was a PVT 2, since then he was blessed with 4 daughters, and he worked very hard to take care of his family. Clarence supported his family in every way that a father could, and his family was his most prized possessions.

He was employed several places: Martin Wold Plumbing & Heating, Teamsters Union, truck driving for Ruan and Union 76, and finally retiring with St Louis County Maintenance Department. His true passion was sailing on the great lakes in which he was employed with the Pittsburg Steamship Company as an ordinary seaman. He also belonged to the "gallon club" for donating blood. He enjoyed going to the Owls Club and was a lifelong member. Throughout this time, he built two family homes. He used to say that he was a "jack of all, master of none".

Clarence enjoyed spending time with his family, going to drive in movies, boating, water skiing (which he was amazing at), snowmobiling, roller skating (which he was also amazing at), going to breakfast with the gang at Bridgeman's and taking a long ride after.

Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; and brother, Edwin Carlson.

Clarence is survived by his daughters, Kathy (David) Watczak, Kimberly Carlson, Kellie Carlson, and Kari (Joseph) Teague; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and nephews.
