Linda Troolin Obituary

Linda Jane Troolin, 68, of Duluth, lost her courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, May 6, 2018.
Linda was born in Mora, Minnesota to Charles John Von Rueden and Alice Patricia Linehan. She attended high school in Hinckley and graduated in 1968. Linda went on to earn a BS degree in physical education and health at UMD. There she was active in women's track, had five UMD records, was the collegiate long jump champion, and record holder for three years. Linda was a high school teacher in Duluth for 35 years and coached for 10 years. She was given the Carl Knutson Award for health statewide in 2003. It recognizes the outstanding services and contributions to school health education given by a MN educator as exemplified by Dr. Carl Knutson, Supervisor of Health, Physical Education and Safety with the MN Department of Education.
Gardening was a big part of Linda's life. She was a member of Tischer Creek Garden Club for 18 years and president for two years. After retirement she joined DAR where she was active with the veterans at Ramsey House and their historian for one year.
Linda is greatly missed by her husband of 46 years, Bob Troolin of Rice Lake. She was the glue that held the family together. Linda loved her grandchildren, Tyler, Jackson, and Clara dearly and always looked forward to their visits. She had a heartfelt dedication to her values and touched a lot of people in a positive manner. She has left this world a better place because of her concern for others.
Linda had a lifelong love of genealogy and spent many happy hours searching for relatives and making connections. She was able to use this information to write four genealogy books.
The family would like to express their appreciation for all the prayers, encouraging words, thoughts, flowers, food, cards, and visits. A special appreciation to St. Luke's Dr. Susan Kamper and Dr. Alkaied, St. Luke's Cancer Center, St. Luke's Hospice, St. Luke's Hospice Nurse Tina, and Sam's Club Pharmacy for all their professional care and assistance.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alice Linehan Von Rueden.
Linda is survived by her husband, Bob; son, Robert (Stephanie); daughter, Taryn (Mike) Vavra; grandsons, Tyler and Jackson; granddaughter, Clara; siblings, Charles (Cathy) Von Rueden, Kathy (Gary) Langenbach, and Rhonda (Bo) Kirchmerier; sister-in-law, Vickie (Kenneth); and many nieces and nephews.
