Verona Arline Myron, 93, of Duluth, passed away on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, surrounded by family. Verona was born on Feb. 16, 1924 in the town of Riverton, MN, to Albert & Eunice (Sutherland) Towns. Her family moved to Sandstone, MN, where Verona graduated from Sandstone High School in 1942. She later became employed at U.S. Steel in Duluth, where she met Howard. They were married on Sept. 15, 1944, in Duluth where they made their home. Two children were added to their union. Jean Ann was adopted in 1954 and Karen May was born in 1956. Verona and Howard raised their children in the new home, near Proctor, that they moved into in 1959. They enjoyed many years of fellowship with family, ministers, and friends. Verona was employed at various places during that time, including Mielke Electric, Electrolux, Ojibway Press, and The Lukovski Chiropractic office. In their later years, Verona and Howard enjoyed caring for and helping with their grandchildren. After Howard's passing in 1990, Verona enjoyed being a foster grandparent at Bayview School, along with enjoying her own grandchildren. She later resided at Wesley Res, until 2013, when she moved to Viewcrest. Verona loved writing letters and receiving mail from ministers and friends. She enjoyed many hobbies throughout her lifetime, taking a great interest in sea shells and making things with them. Verona was a loving mother and grandmother, and she will be deeply missed by her family. Verona was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Howard; brother, Norman Towns and his wife, Sylvia; and nephew, David Towns. Verona is survived by her daughters, Jean Myron and Karen (Alden) Springer; grandchildren, Justin Reamer, Lindsey Reamer, Jonathan Reamer, Amie Reamer, Zack Reamer, Roy (Lisa) Springer, Dana Springer, and Joan (Matt) Olson; great-grandchildren, Cayden Reamer, Aubriella Reamer, Layne Sieve, Carly Springer, Emma Springer, Nathan Springer, Cade Olson, and Bode Olson; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. VISITATION: 11 am Wednesday, February 22nd at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown, with a funeral service to follow at noon.
