Richard Erving Dewey January 29, 1923 - July 14, 2015 92 years of age twin of Raymond Earl Dewey (1923 - 1998) Richard (Dick) was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on January 29, 1923, one of twelve children. His father (widowed) had three sons; his mother (also widowed) had three daughters. Their union produced three more boys and three more girls, called "the six little kids". Dick and Ray were two very mischievous kids. What one didn't think of, the other one did. When they got into trouble, there was no way they would "tell" on each other. Our poor Mom would be forced to punish both of them. Grown up, Dick developed a personality that hid a very loving, caring young man. He was our mom's "hero" for several years before her death. Her prayers were answered the day he married Lorraine, the love of his life. Their marriage has been blessed with a love few of us are fortunate to experience. Dick and Lorraine spent many years in volunteer work. They both played the piano and sang, and they shared their talents entertaining groups all over the Duluth area. In later years when Lorraine went into Viewcrest, Dick spent long hours visiting her every day. I call that devotion - but she's worth it. In short, I'm proud to call him my brother! After he married Lorraine in 1971, they spent much of their time with Ray and Sis - volunteering, going out to eat, gardening, and traveling to Twins Conventions throughout the country. Dick and Lorraine were members of Lincoln Park Community Church. Dick is survived by his wife Lorraine, brother Bill, numerous nieces and nephews, stepdaughters Linda and Bonnie, stepson Eddy, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dick and Lorraine appreciated the care they received at Viewcrest and ended each day by praying aloud together for their caregivers and for each family member by name.
