Opal Mae Beck, 86, of Duluth, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017, surrounded by family at the Benedictine Living Community in Duluth. Opal was born March 17, 1931, to Erma and Floyd Watson in Palisade, MN. Opal enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart; she spent time with them at every opportunity. Opal was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; son, Steven; sister, Faye Fowlds; and brothers Clyde, Clifton, Hugo, Lloyd, and Kyle. Opal is survived by her children, Barbara (Thomas Bacig) Perushek, John (Beth), Nancy (Michael) Rebar, Thomas, and daughter-in-law Liz Beck; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Bobbe, Sarah (Josh) Carlson, Kate, Nicholas (Lynn), Emily, Edward, Anne, and Paul; great-grandchildren, Eavan, Cael, Miera, and Griffin Bobbe, Brita and Odin Carlson, and Max Beck; sisters, Celia (Rick) Doty and Cheri (Craig) Funk; brothers, Allen (LaVonne), Bert (Karen), David, and Glen (Barb); and many other relatives, friends, including special friends, Lud, Lana, Dale and Margaret. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2 p.m. Thursday, April 20th at Sunrise Memorial Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Benedictine Living Community Foundation or the Animal Allies Humane Society.
