Lillian Peterson Obituary

Lillian May Peterson, age 96, of Duluth, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 in Viewcrest Nursing Care Center. She was born on November 11, 1919 to Carl and Ragna (Christiansen) Peterson. She graduated from West High School in 1937 and graduated from the Duluth State Teachers College in 1940.

On August 31, 1940 she married Arnold Peterson in Cotton, Minnesota. She worked at Bromme Bridgeman for 9 years, Duluth Avionics for 7 ½ years, and St. Luke's Hospital for 10 years. After retirement she wintered in Lakeland, Florida for 8 years.

Lillian enjoyed knitting and quilting, playing the organ, camping, fishing, working on a cross word puzzle and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold in 1990; a brother, Robert Christiansen; a sister, Ethel North; and her grandson, Todd Eliason.

She is survived by her four daughters, Donna (Gerald) Witte of Hermantown, MN, Judith "Judie" (Harry) Eliason of Canosia Twp, Jill (Raymond) Soderholm of Hermantown, Sandra (William) Kopp of Forest Lake, MN; sister, Virginia Fyksen of Duluth; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Life Covenant Church.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016 at New Life Covenant Church, 6905 Industrial Rd, Saginaw, MN, at 2:00 p.m. with funeral services to be held at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Terry White will be officiating.

Family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Viewcrest for the exceptional care they gave to Lillian. They would also like to thank Pastor Terry White and Pastor Dave Eaton for their visits and comfort they provided Lillian in her final days.
