John T. Arkulary, age 64 of Duluth, passed away on September 9, 2015 while surrounded by family. John was born on June 19, 1951 to John and Frances (Selbach) Arkulary in Viroqua, WI. He was raised in Duluth and graduated from Central High School. After high school, he attended the Duluth Area Vo-Tech for culinary arts. John worked in the family business since childhood and was known for his long hours and great work ethic. Later in life, he enjoyed his days working at Sam's Club. John loved his time as a volunteer fire fighter for Rice Lake Volunteer Fire Department. Over the past 30 years, John enjoyed spending time with people as well as rescueing and saving animals. John will always be remembered for his easy going nature, big smile, not being afraid to have a good time, and his ability to quickly turn a stranger into a friend. John is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ann Lockwood and Mary Trenberth. John is survived by his siblings, Patricia (Wayne) Goodell, James Arkulary, Lawrence Arkulary, Michael Arkulary, Stephen (Mitzi Doane) Arkulary, Elizabeth (Mark) Wilhelmson; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be on September 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father William Graham officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Sunrise Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Rice Lake Volunteer Fire Department. The family would like to thank the management team at Sam's Club for their ongoing support of John especially during his illness as well as the medical staff at Essentia Health Oncology and Palliative Care.
