Jean Beverly Forrest, 87, passed away April 8, 2016 in St. Lukes Hospice. She was born in Duluth on August 13, 1928 to John and Evelyn Cashin. Jean was a 1946 graduate of Duluth Central. Then pursuing her love of knowledge, she went on to graduate in 1969 from D.A.I.T. and from UMD in 1972. She was employed at Bell Telephone, Duluth Avionics, a substitute elementary teacher, a counselor at St. Lukes Detox and at the 2001 Chemical Dependency Center. Jean also worked at a shelter for abused women. She was involved for several years with Special Olympics, skiing and traveling with the team. She was also a volunteer foster grandparent at Piedmont Elementary School. Jean was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and loved traveling with the church group. Her hobbies were reading, sewing and gardening. She enjoyed being in the outdoors. She was an avid animal lover. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, brothers Robert and John, son James Carlson and son in law Mark Johnson. She is survived by her brother William Cashin , sister Joan (Richard) Olson, daughters Beverly (Robert) Lambert, Kathleen (Mark) Johnson, Marianne (Steven) Shershon, Patricia Washington, Terri Dawn Forrest, son Robert (Sharon) Carlson, 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews . Jean will be buried at a future date at Fort Snelling beside her husband Don. In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations to the Duluth Animal Shelter. Visitation: 12:00 until the 1 pm service.
