Hope Ann Shaw

Hope Ann Shaw "Toots"   Hope Ann Shaw 81 of Duluth passed away on April 15, 2016 after a brief illness at Essentia Health. Hope was born in Duluth on March 30, 1935 to Julius and Hope Johnson. She attended Denfeld High School. Hope met the love of her life, Duane Shaw and they were married in 1954. After 21 years, Hope retired from Hermantown School where she worked in food service. Duane and Hope raised 2 sons in Hermantown. Hope adored her family and especially treasured her 4 grandchildren and their families. Most recently, she loved spending time with her 2 great grandchildren, Jack and Julia, and was anticipating another blessing due in August. Hope enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to her flowers and gardens. Her back yard became a sanctuary for hummingbirds, song birds, ducks, squirrels and, to her dismay, deer. Hope is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 6 sisters. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Duane Shaw. Their sons, Jeff (Penny) Shaw and Rick (Lari Jo) Shaw. Grandchildren Jason (Courtney) Shaw, Kristi (John) Reitz, Kimberly (Ryan) Kreager, Ashley (Casey) Boutain and her great grandchildren Jack and Julia Shaw and a sister Betty Bloomquist and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation Thursday April 21,  1:00 pm with service to follow at 2:00pm.
