Grace Baker Obituary

Grace Marie Baker, 91, passed into Jesus' arms peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, June 16, 2017, at her home in Cedar Park, TX. She was born on February 19, 1926, in Superior, WI, to Harry and Ester Hagberg. Grace received a teaching degree in St. Cloud, MN. She then taught 7th grade in public school, as well as on a Chippewa Indian Reservation. She fell in love and married Clarence Harvey Baker, a Navy veteran, in April 1951. She moved to East Grand Forks, MN, and then to Duluth, MN for 30+ years; before finally to the Austin, TX, area in 1990, where she lived for 27 years. She made friends easily, raised her 8 children to love God, and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. She loved gardening & nature, looking for satellites in the night sky, playing board games, LOVED Wheel of Fortune, and always played to win - even against her young children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, David of Ashfork, AZ, Bruce of Ashfork, AZ, Jolene (Terry) Case of Lakeland, FL, Cheryl (Phil) Moraw of Auburndale, FL, Darrel (Tracy) of Duluth, MN, Paul (Deborah) of Cedar Park, TX,  John (Leeanne) of Duluth, MN, and Phillip (Beth) of Douglassville, PA; brother Charles (Joan) Hagberg of Crosby, MN; 23 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren who all brought her immense joy throughout her life, and especially in her later years. CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 12 pm on Monday, July 3rd at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown. In lieu of flowers, Grace asks that memorial gifts be made to the special-needs school, founded by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Deborah Baker: Harbor Leadership Academy, 17317 FM 1431, Leander, TX, 78641.
