Francis "John" Buresh, age 96, a lifelong Duluth area resident, died on July 10, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospice.ï¿Â½ï¿Â½He was born on December 2, 1918 to Frank and Elva Buresh.ï¿Â½ï¿Â½While growing up, John was an avid ski jumper and cross country skiier where he placed 2nd in state.ï¿Â½ï¿Â½John was a WWII Naval Veteran where he was a signalman 1st class and served on the USS Indianapolis and various other ships.ï¿Â½ï¿Â½He retired as a roofer in 1983.ï¿Â½ï¿Â½John enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, playing horse shoes and cribbage. John is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lenora Buresh; sisters, Elna Wicklund, Winnifred McThompson, and Lorraine Palazzari. John is survived by his children, Frank (Barbara) Buresh, Phyllis (Peter) Nuthak, John (Helga) Buresh, Joseph (Valerie) Buresh, Lisa (Bill) Polson, Trudy (Daniel) Beckwith; step-children, Edward (Donna) Miller, Dave (Joy) Miller, John Miller, JoAnn (Norm) Nordgren, Dan (Liz) Miller, Art (Kathy) Miller; sister, Phyllis Tomhave; and three generations of grandchildren.
