Evelyn Alice Jackson, 87, of Hermantown, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was born February 11, 1929, to Edward & Alice Grote. Evelyn married Carl Jackson on July 16, 1949. Together, they raised four daughters and one grandson. Evelyn was an excellent baker, especially known to many for her cinnamon rolls and lemon pie. She also had a green thumb and had many beautiful flower gardens. She had a love of music, and you could always expect to see her toes start to tap whenever the music started. But she was primarily a devoted mother and grandmother. Her Catholic faith was the center of her life. She volunteered through the years at church and other organizations, helping where she could. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; daughter, Ramona; parents; brother, Donald Grote; son-in-law, Ben Wiley; and granddaughter, Tanaya Wiley. Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Roxanne Wiley, Rosemary (Tim) Guiney, Rebecca Jackson; grandson, Daniel Jackson; grandchildren, Ronald Stead, Sharon Herbert, Benny Wiley, Emily Guiney, Molly Guiney, Annie Guiney, and Sophie Willis; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank all the nurses at Edgewood and St. Lukes who helped with her care, especially those on the hospice floor. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Kleinschmidt for all his wonderful care through the years. VISITATION: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14th, at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Highway, Hermantown, with memorial service to follow at 11 a.m.
